The Roman Forum, as we can see it now in downtown Rome, is mostly a Mussolini creation, since he had the entire area cleaned up of non-ancient remains and buildings.

However, Mussolini did destroy at least one ancient ruin in the process: the ugly remains of the Meta Sudans fountain, a 1st century Flavian creation, by the Colosseum.
