Wang Danhao (汪丹浩) passed away in Michigan on March 20. Many questions still surround the incident. At the time of writing, the ongoing lack of clear information is both staggering and noteworthy, especially given that China’s MFA has expressed grief and anger over the reported suicide of a Chinese postdoctoral researcher following questioning by US authorities—an incident that underscores current tensions in Sino-American academic exchanges. My earlier reporting, first to piece together key details, is linked below. Surely more information will be released soon (whether from the University of Michigan or other official sources); will add updates when it does.
