Most of us don't realise we're running from a feeling until we're already three steps into the story we built around it.
Fear might show up in the chest or belly, we experience shakiness and instead of staying present with that, we shoot straight up into our heads. We start writing the script and imagining the conversation, running the worst-case scenario on repeat.
This gives us the illusion of some sort of control over the fear because it gives the fear somewhere to go: future planning, disaster prepping etc. but actually it is just the fear feeding itself.
The work… the real work.. is learning to stay in the body long enough to let it pass through. Because it will, it always does, and on the other side is often the peace we have been longing for.
