What Will It Be Like?

I had a dream last night, in which I was canoeing down a fast river. I came round a bend and there was a massive cherry tree in full bloom on the shore. I pulled the canoe over, got out and stood before it, overwhelmed by the beauty of the thing.

When I woke, the dream was still vivid, and I thought about what it will be like to stand before Jesus. I thought of the apostle John, in the book of Revelation, chapter 1, verses 17 & 18: “When I saw him, (Jesus) I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.”

He is the living God and yet, He bends down and touches John, lifts him up and reveals His identity to him. What grace! What Mercy!

And he gives John a task, to “Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches …”

What a calling! What a blessing! To proclaim the glory of God and testify to His goodness and holiness.

This is our calling, too, as writers of faith. Does it not make you want to fall on your face before Him?
