The Red Pen Is Coming Back.

July starts next week, and so does the next round of the Red Pen.

If you were here for March and April, you know what this is. If you are new, here is the short version: you submit an image, I look at it the way I look at my own work before it goes anywhere near a client or an agency. No filters, no empty praise. Just an honest conversation about light, geometry, and the decisions that make or break a frame.

Two rounds in, and the work coming through has been genuinely strong. Venetian shadows, coastal monochrome, market scenes, station geometry.

Different eyes, different places, same obsession with the frame.

July is open to any subject.

The first 15 submissions will get the full Red Pen treatment. Paid subscribers get first access.

I will post the submission instructions next week, with everything you need to know.

In the meantime, start looking at your recent work. Pull the frames you almost posted but didn't. The ones you are not quite sure about. Those are usually the interesting ones.

The Red Pen is sharpest on an image with a question in it.
