In one succinct sentence you have put the essence of what is one of the most important principles necessary to make democracy work
The other necessary component to make democracy work is that the elected leaders have an unwavering commitment to morality, honesty, and an abiding sense of duty to those whom they represent. Currently, we find ourselves in a situation where virtually none of our Republican leaders have this unwavering commitment to morality, and to a sense of duty to their constituents.

In my small New Mexico town of only 10,000 in population, on April 5, there will be five simultaneous marches that will end up at a major rally in a park in the center of town. Each March will have a separate theme: the themes are education, Palestine, public lands/forest, immigration, and a combination of Social Security, veterans programs, Medicaid, and Medicare.
Again, I will say it is “WE THE PEOPLE “ that will successfully prevail over the fascist Trump regime. There is power in numbers. In our situation, the local government and the police force are there to protect us and not suppress free speech.
