Watching my son engage with the world has reminded me that there is so much to learn and explore. I often stop to look at the things that he stops to observe. I think about how free he must have felt to run through this forest in last week, how open the setting must have felt.
A couple of weeks ago, his grandfather remarked that our garden is the perfect place for our son because of how much there is to see. In that moment, I realized that my son had transformed how my father-in-law perceived the garden. Suddenly it was fuller and more vibrant, all because of the little eyes that found wonder in a shriveled leaf and the texture of an elder branch.
My son inspires me that beauty is all around us. The more we foster it, the more there will be.
