Learning is messy and teaching to the humanity of my students is exhausting. I am preparing them for more than middle school; to be happy, healthy human beings. It would be far less stressful to be a cold, detached authoritarian, passing out worksheets. But this is not teaching. Real teaching puts connection and care first, academic content second.
