Social media has turned what was art, into commerce. If you make money from creating this is a sacred tension you will walk… where you’ll want to try to give the audience what it wants, and abandon your own heart. That’s what the algorithm hooks into —> an evolutionary split between authenticity and feeling safe and resourced…
ie. If what we truly want to say doesn’t perform, and performance is correlated to compensation, then we’ll abandon our truth…. Until we don’t.
This doesn’t mean our art can’t have strategy. It doesn’t mean it can’t be expressed in different forms to play the system… what I’m really speaking to is being able to recognize when you’ve left your heart to get reach. And that’s the same pain as trading your truth for belonging in relationship. The cost is inflammatory in nature and does a number on our physiology.
