🪞 Reflection Note — The Echo

When I finished writing The Day Efficiency Got Drunk on Its Own Code, I couldn’t stop thinking about how many leaders I’ve met who no longer lead the work — they manage the machines that do.

I remembered one sprint planning years ago when an automated dashboard started predicting our team’s “velocity.” People stopped talking. The tool had spoken. And just like that, reflection became redundancy.

That’s the hidden hangover of over-automation: when the rituals still happen, but the meaning quietly slips away.

So here’s the question that’s been echoing since finishing this Dispatch:

👉 Where do you still see the humans in your systems — and where have they disappeared?

Drop your thoughts below. I’d love to hear where you draw the line between helpful automation and hollow ritual.
