“… they told themselves the rich stayed rich by greed, and the poor stayed poor by virtue.”

It’s been a long time since I thought like this, but I DID think like this. Of course it’s incorrect and self-serving. Luck matters a lot and I don’t hate the poor, but society cannot function on the logic of low agency.
