How writing on my iPhone became my creative space
Years ago, when we moved to Kauai, a colleague suggested I keep a journal of the transition.
I started writing on my iPad. Paper wasn’t going to survive the humidity.
But the iPad didn’t make it to the beach.
So I started writing on my iPhone. Small enough to slip into a pocket when the rain came in fast and I had to grab my things and go.
Every day I wrote.
At first to get 500 words done.
Then to figure out what came next.
Somewhere along the way, my phone became my creative space. Not a desk. Not an office. Not a perfect nook.
Just this.
No matter where I am, my phone is my writing desk.
So when I’m working on my iPad and I can’t get into a chapter, I reach for my phone.
And I’m home.
