George Hamilton might be the only person to get a Ph.D. because he saw his 7th-grade teacher write “Dr.” Seymour on the blackboard.

He had worked for years to earn that “Dr.” title and he intended to name-drop it whenever he could.

This did not stop him from being nervous on his first day as faculty. He stood at the chalkboard grateful that the school hadn’t upgraded to whiteboards so he could experience this moment, just like Dr. Seymour had.

He wrote his name on the board. “Dr. George Hamilton.”

Today, he thought, would be a good day.
