sometimes i wonder how many versions of myself i’ve outgrown without even noticing. i look back at old photos and remember the thoughts i used to carry, the dreams i thought would save me. it’s strange how you can live inside yourself every day and still not realize you’re evolving. it’s only when you look back that you realize how far you’ve come, how many lives you’ve already lived in the same skin.

Sometimes I fantasize about disappearing.
Not dying.
Just logging off.
Getting a job no one cares about.
Growing tomatoes.

Yeah, like everyone can afford 5+ acres, plus a house, plus a barn, plus a well.... You're talking to the rich people now. Not the ones you want for neighbors.
Bandit - You are right. It will cost money to prepare for what is to come. However, the further out you go the cheaper land will be. All you really need is a house and a well. A barn is a luxury that you can do without. Plenty of folks farm without a barn. Lots of folks are going the barndo route as you can build a shell (metal siding and roof) for much less than stick built house. The goodness of the Lord is all I have. Not everyone has several, or a few, hundred thousand dollars to spend. You seem to think I haven't seen the prices on land, with and without a house/barndo. People on Substack tend to, mostly, be pretty elite and forget about the rest of us.
@Bandit - Not everyone on Substack is elite. Most folks on Substack swallowed the red pill and see the "Matrix" for what it is. Plenty of folks on Substack are like you and do not have means to purchase land. However you can rent (see @William Brown's story on his property) a house in the country and still be safe. When SHTF, it really will become immaterial as to the distinction between owning and renting. As for the goodness of the Lord, your best bet is to take advantage of that. Meet your neighbors in the country, go to church...these are the folks you can depend on. God does not expect us to roll over and die. We fight for our families and brothers and sisters.
