I’m looking at some of the short online courses available from Oxford Uni’s Lifelong Learning department, out of personal interest but also with a view to research for a future speculative-historical book.

My shortlist at the moment is:

Ancient Mesopotamia and the Sumerians

Origins of Human Behaviour

Ritual and Religion in Prehistory (this is probably my fave at the moment)

The Practice of Magic in Medieval Society (sounds interesting, but the more complete historical record would make it harder just to make shit up in a work of fiction…)

Any ideas from people who have studied or researched those subjects?
