I agree with Amanda here — what constitutes “Canadian” is not a binary and can be complex.

What is often missing from this discussion is “ownership”.

Our public conversations mostly focus on where a product is made and where the inputs come from, which are important.

But we need to also talk about who owns the company and the supply chain. Ownership almost always means wealth, IP, reinvestment and higher paid jobs in the local community.

A Canadian company like Oxford Frozen Food with a few berries grown in Maine is better than a big American multi-national that sets up a branch plant here. Every day of the week.
