I got a call today from my son in college. “ICE is at Eskanazi,” the hospital downtown. He made sure he has his US passport card on him because he could be profiled based on his appearance. We had to think through what to do in that case.

When I moved to the US 33 years ago and became a US citizen 13 years ago, I never imagined that today things would feel eerily similar to everything I learned in school in Germany about the first years of the Nazi regime.

I would not be surprised if the Trump gang will set up prisons/camps for political opponents. That’s how Hitler’s concentration camps began: political opponents such as Social Democrats, Communists, etc. were the first to be interned.

I know Big Brother is surveilling all the social media (incl. this post). We cannot allow ourselves to be intimidated. There is strength in numbers wisely sharing their experiences of and responses to fascism.
