Where is the exact centre of London? Officially, it’s the statue of Charles I at Charing Cross. BUT… where is the geometric centre? A few years back, I did an experiment where I cut out a map of London, glued it to part of an M&S cheese cracker box, and then balanced it on a knitting needle. The point of equilibrium turned out to be in Lambeth, SOUTH of the river. Someone later refined the experiment by using accurate mapping software (images 3 and 4). Turns out my crude method was close… the geospatial centre of London is actually in the Tanswell Estate close to the Old Vic in Lambeth.
