Make money doing the work you believe in

A few thoughts came to me the other day as I dined in the barrel room of a small winery in Margaret River, food presented by a chef who I interviewed years back when they had a small fine diner in Tasmania, and now resident in my small town, three hours from Perth. The first thought, that this all seems very natural to me now. Having lived in country W.A. for over 10 years, being around wineries, winemakers, exceptional chefs and other talent, it feels like another dinner. I'm grateful of the opportunities that I get, they’re special, but they don't feel unusual to me anymore. It made me reflect on how very lucky I am. The second thought, being there as a guest, but without a commission was again how lucky I am but also that I should be writing about such things for Between Meals. Strangely, I often think that readers wouldn't want to read an account of a meal I’ve had because as an audience your global but then I reminded myself that I regularly read reviews from New York, Sydney, London, Melbourne, San Francisco, LA, and that I'm not reading about an experience that I will have one day, I'm reading about a place and a culture, and a moment in time. So in the next few days, I'll introduce you to Tim, Laura and Bair Bones. Please hit subscribe if that sounds like your jam.
