This is a Frog-Mouth Helm, or Stechhelm which translates to "jousting helmet".

Assembled with steel and copper alloy this helmet weighs about 17 pounds, 14 ounces. The helmet is of German origin, likely Nuremberg around the year 1500.

On display today at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
