Something I have realised about parenting young children that it also pertains to drafting ⤵️

There are no deadlines other than the ones you set yourself.

The other day it took me 2 hours to load and unload the dishwasher because my toddler kept interrupting.

At first I was frustrated but then I thought, why does it matter? There are no time pressures here, It could take three hours and it still wouldn’t matter.

It’s very like those early drafting stages. It makes no difference if it takes 6 months or 6 years. It’s not something to stress about… so long as it gets done in the end.

Yes there will eventually be time pressures for both instances, school drop offs, publishing schedules etc, but for now… don’t stress yourself out over arbitrary deadlines.

Slow and steady wins the race 🐢
