Okay hear me out…
If patronizing is talking down to people, acting superior, and offering unsolicited advice dripping with condescension…
Then can we normalize matronizing, where we treat everyone like they're our beloved little sibling and any unsolicited advice is along the lines of:
"Are you drinking enough water?"
"When's the last time you ate something that wasn't beige?"
"You sound tired. Are you sleeping?"
"Do you have a jacket? It's supposed to get cold later."
"I don't love that person for you."
(This post inspired by the Lindy West drama. The responses I’ve seen fall really starkly into one of these two camps!)
