Make money doing the work you believe in

I signed my first client eight years ago this month. Here are three things I’ve learned since then:

  • Just take the first step. You don’t have to have everything figured out — take one step (and then the next), and you’ll figure out the details along the way.

  • Many decisions are two-way doors. If it’s not the right path, you can turn around — this is a major factor when I’m making big decisions.

  • It feels hard because it is hard. It’s not that you’re doing it wrong or that there’s some secret everyone else has already figured out. Even if the client work is easy, building a business is a whole different beast.
