the binary polemicists in various disciplines, choosing either a focus on the individual or on the (social) structure is just not an issue in frameworks informed by chaos & complexity theory. It is easy to say both of course and still favour one over the other in the dynamic.

The relationship, the thing that is the self in the world, a world of selves, is dynamic (both ways at all times) within a lifecycle and through the generations (the flow cycles in seasons, stages and internodes) just as this thing, this relationship, this self-in-the-world-of-selves also dances with its ecological constraints and more fundamental chemistry and evolutionary survival.

Saying it is not an issue and working it out are another matter.

Particularly where this relates to perceptions of risk by individuals and their worlds.
