There is a critical disconnect in our food system that needs naming!
Food prices are rising, and we are being warned that geopolitical shocks will push them higher. But the bit that breaks my heart is this. For farmers supplying supermarkets, those price rises rarely translate into better pay. They just watch costs climb while the extra money moves everywhere else in the chain.
Oil, fuel, inputs, labour. Farmers absorb the inflation so the system can keep pretending food is cheap. This is the economics of burnout, and it is why so many are at breaking point.
