Since launching the slow read of The Second Sex, I’ve been thinking about what it means to keep reading with the present.
Beginning Wednesday, April 29, I’m launching a new reading series focused on shorter, contemporary works in feminist and queer philosophy— thinking and writing that engages the world we’re in and helps us live through it and imagine beyond it.
This series is for you if you’re wondering:
How do we make sense of these times?
What does feminist and queer philosophy have to say now?
How can thinking be a shared, living practice?
We’ll begin with Living with Men: Reflections on the Pelicot Trial (Polity 2025) by Manon Garcia.
How it works:
Each book unfolds over 6–8 weeks (slow but not too slow + perfect for summer reading)
I’ll post weekly audio reflections on the assigned pages (for all subscribers)
Paid subscribers get access to live discussions
And—if we’re lucky, which I think we might be—I’ll host an “Author Meets Readers” live conversation
I’d love to have you there. Comment or DM with questions!
I’ve been working on creating a new series! It’s going to involve reading cool, new books in feminist and queer philosophy. I can’t wait to share the details next week. For now, here’s a preview of where I’ll begin.
