Every code change at Google must go through three levels of review, each targeting a different dimension of quality:
Correctness & Comprehension Review Another engineer (often from the same team) reviews whether the code is logically sound, handles edge cases, and is easy to understand. This encourages knowledge sharing and catches bugs early.
Code Ownership Approval Google’s monorepo is organized like a directory tree, with owners assigned to specific folders. Only a recognized code owner (e.g.…
