We are spending my kids’ spring break in Washington, D.C. First time for me too. It’s… mainly sad. Sad history. Sad current events.
But.
There are park rangers taking an hour an a half to do their program with just my kids to teach them awesome things about caring for the land. And there are staff at museum tables teaching honest, nuanced history. And the air and space museum celebrates science while an astronaut from our hometown (!!) is circling the moon and coming home again.
This place mainly makes me sad. But it also reminds me of the importance of sticking together in hope.
