DISRUPTION ASSIGNMENT

Trump henchman Stephen Miller is trying to implement the SAVE Act legislation without having to go through Congress. He's asking the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) to require a passport or birth certificate with a current legal name to register to vote.

Why this matters:

The SAVE Act violates the Voting Rights Act, which prohibits discriminatory practices in voting, as it could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters by imposing strict documentation requirements. It could also conflict with existing federal laws that already regulate voter registration and eligibility verification processes.

Millions of eligible voters who don't have these documents readily available will be denied the right to vote if this change is implemented.

- Married Women who took their husband's last name so their maiden name on their birth certificate does not match their current legal name. (or anyone else who has changed their name that does not match their birth certificate)

- Older Americans and people with lower incomes, who are less likely to have a valid passport.

- Indigenous voters, whose tribal IDs may not list a place of birth.

- Military families who frequently move and re-register.

- Rural Americans, who may have to travel long distances to election offices to register in person.

Conservative activists have already submitted 235,000 comments in favor. We can't let the EAC think this is what Americans want.

You can help stop this.
