The app for independent voices

The very existence of decolonial movements is itself a radical acceptance of the liberatory promises of Enlightenmened Europe. It gave the postcolonial intellectual the perfect alibi: the opportunity to destroy his own culture, or at least to complete the destruction already underway, in the name of concrete liberation from a concrete enemy, a luxury European philosophers rarely enjoyed. The postcolonial intellectual is thus, above all, a liar. He does not truly mourn what he claims was taken from him, nor does he avenge it. He continues the annihilation by other means while assigning the blame elsewhere. And when the wreckage enraged him, he fled from the consequences of his own work to the West and accused it of what he had done himself. In truth, we all accepted the false liberatory promises and the bribes they came with, and then set about blaming one another for the ruin.

Repeat this insight on every group that accepted lebratory promises, and that is largely our modern culture.
