As I learned many years ago from Professor Sowell in "The Conflict of Visions," the left will seek to increase its power by invoking crises and then proposing solutions that always lead to more government and when they fail to solve the crisis always fall back on their good intentions. Or borrowing from a wonderful children's book, "when you give a mouse a cookie"....
