Israeli lawyer Golan Ashton asked the following pertinent question (in hebrew) which I am reposting here in English:
Israel either has access or outright developed the most advanced detection & surveillance technology in existence today. What happened to it on the morning of October 7?
How was Israeli intelligence unable to detect the imminent attack of over 3,000 Hamas fighters but was able to find a single observation unit soldier taken captive by them?
Why was the IDF Golani brigade ordered not to approach the main access road along the Gaza border 40 minutes before the attack? This same access road was the primary entry point into Israel used by Hamas.
On the morning of October 7 I was on a holiday in Crete. We only landed at 5am and by 7am I saw Hamas terrorists walking around the streets of Sderot (an Israeli town close to the Gaza border). How is it that I, a layman with no background whatsoever in intelligence, already knew by 7am what the Prime Minister, the head of the Shin Bet and the head of the IDF military intelligence claim to not have known at the time?
Why was Israeli media ordered not to report anything about the attack till 9:30am (three hours after it started)? Shouldn’t they have instead been given instructions to alert civilians in the area and give them instructions from the authorities on what they should be doing?
Why NO SINGLE BRANCH of the IDF took ANY action whatsoever to thwart the attack?
How come attack helicopters were not scrambled once a breach of the border fence by thousands of Hamas terrorists was detected? (Two squadrons of Apache attack helicopters are based out of an IAF base located THREE MINUTES flight away).
There is an Iron Dome installation located near the Gaza border. There is another one located where I live in the center of Israel. I know from personal experience that Iron Dome is normally activated to Intercept any incoming rockets within 40-50 SECONDS. The Iron Dome Installation near the Gaza border seemed to have not been activated in a timely manner…or at all! Why?
If Shin Bet indeed know of an incoming attack by 2am of the morning of October 7, why wasn’t the IDF prepared to stop them when they did commence the attack at 6:29am that morning? 4.5 hours is a VERY long time to get ready for something like that to an armed force of the IDF’s calibre. Furthermore, why did the Israeli cabinet didn’t convene until 5pm that day?
Why is Netanyahu’s own son remaining overseas instead of coming back to assist with the war effort? (Yair Netanyahu is currently living it up in Miami, FL).
Why are all cabinet members not out there helping deliver supplies and assisting the war effort?
Why was the financial support plan prepared by the finance minister (an ultra-right wing nutjob with messianic tendencies) so poorly funded and payments taking such a long time to reach their intended recipients? A transfer to a bank account doesn’t take long to process.
Who are those people wearing light blue clothing, speaking perfect hebrew and not looking like Arabs seen in some of the footage walking around in the villages and towns invaded on October 7. Some had their face blurred in the footage. Since when do we blur the faces of terrorists to protect their identity?
Why the terrorists appear completely calm in a lot of the footage? They don’t seem in a rush at all and just walk around in a nonchalant way as if they own the place. One footage (which I have seen personally) shows a guy ON STILTS entering one of the Israeli villages and stealing equipment!
Finally, the most disturbing question of all: footage from October 7 is showing horrific acts of rape committed by Hamas terrorists on local Israeli women. There is some footage even showing these terrorists lining up and waiting ‘patiently’ to have their ‘turn’. No rush and no stress whatsoever in their behaviour. Are they not worried about getting blown up any minute by an Israeli attack helicopter or a counteroffensive by IDF ground forces? Did they know for sure they had a certain timeframe during which they are free to do as they please?
