The app for independent voices

Got an oppositional child in your family who loves to argue with you?

Remember, statements are their fuel. Questions are their kryptonite.

“Go to bed.”

“No!”

“Go!”

“No!”

You’re in a power struggle and you’ll lose. Even when you win (the argument) you lose (you got in a fight you didn't want).

Versus a question.

“It’s time for bed.”

“I’m not going.”

“Why do you think it’s okay to stay up late?”

Questions disarm oppositional kids. It takes the argument away from them. They got to think, not fight.

The more tools in your parenting toolbox the easier it is to be successful.
