I could do another rant about about upset/depressed/angry I am about what my country is doing to the world.
But there has to be more to life than that.
Instead, I'm going to tell you about something positive you should do as soon as possible to feel better about being human in 2026.
Go see the new movie "Project Hail Mary" starring Ryan Gosling, based on the book by Andy Weir.
Even if you aren't a sci-fi fan.
I won't do a review here, but instead will share that what I love about PHM, and Andy Weir's previous book The Martian -- also made into a movie -- is that what both are really about is the belief in humanity's fundamental goodness.
And the idea that when we work together, we can overcome the worst of odds.
Yeah, I know how hard it is right now to believe in the fundamental decency of humanity when the most powerful country in the world has put a racist, sexist, braying jackass in charge for a second time.
But if we don't believe that ultimately humanity is better than it is awful, then we are doomed.
Personally, I need to believe that, and "Project Hail Mary" let me really believe that for 2 1/2 hours yesterday.
It’s also funny as hell.
So do yourself a favor, and go feel good about the world, even if only for a little bit.
