In my experience, discipleship has functioned more like a patchwork quilt- a little here, a little there, when it is intended to be the blanket that covers the whole room. Your insights on leadership also resonate. I have found that churches seem to use leaders to administrate but are not always leveraged as the first layer for building the discipleship culture.
