The app for independent voices

A quick thought from the research rabbit hole this week:

TRT is being normalised online at a rate that should probably make clinicians a bit uncomfortable.

The current ACL literature is far from perfect, but it is enough to raise an eyebrow:

  • exogenous testosterone use associated with higher risk of primary ACL injury

  • injectable TRT before ACL reconstruction associated with higher revision risk

  • editorial commentary basically saying, “yes, this is concerning… but let’s not get ahead of ourselves on causation”

That’s probably where I land too.

Not panic.

Not pearl-clutching.

But definitely not “she’ll be right, mate.”

Particularly when so much of the online conversation is driven by aesthetics, confidence, and physique outcomes rather than actual medical need.

Am I the only one who thinks hormones are starting to get talked about far too casually?
