There are a couple people on my LinkedIn feed still doing the “so you support AI, why do you support this [example of horrible thing facilitated with AI]”

I should unfollow these people because it takes everything in my power to avoid telling them they are talking like a child. There is no “support AI” any more than than there is “so you are posting on the internet, why do you support January 6th, CSAM, and phony health cures?” AI is not a political party you vote for. There is no metaphorical off switch we’re all standing around that reads “Turn off all LLMs”. The Butlerian Jihad was a fiction. People out here are trying to argue how we might best use this technology and what we shouldn’t be doing with it. If you think anyone trying to positively shape the future use of a broad, already disseminated technology owns anything bad that is done with it, I really am at a loss for words.
