"Despite two decades of heavy spending and political focus, the numbers have barely moved. In 2004, the bloc imported about 60% of its energy. Today – after hundreds of billions, if not €1 trillion, invested in renewables – that figure stands at about 60%."
Not to mention the eye watering amounts of energy expended and mining and harm done elsewhere to produce all the renewables, for what? nothing because all the renewable is soaked up by increased consumption. The climate crisis is a symptom of overconsumption along with a stack of other planetary crises. We are swallowing a spider to catch a fly, the only way we can have a livable planet is to stop using many planets worth of materials and energy.
