Whenever we visit Madeline Island, I make sure to schedule in at least an hour before we get on the ferry for a visit to one of my very favorite indie bookstores ~ Apostle Island Booksellers in Bayfield, WI. The shop is just blocks from the ferry and has such a wonderfully curated selection of new releases, books of local interest, and titles by Indigenous authors. On this trip I bought a nonfiction book (Hudson Bay Bound) that I read in full while on the island (my glowing review will be in a future newsletter!), and a middle grade story in verse (Odder) that I read aloud to the girls in the tent before bed. We haven’t finished it yet, but so far it’s wonderful!
