The thing about Easter and Christmas and all festivity magic is that someone’s has to create it. Is that someone you?

Society has deferred that responsibility to women, some whom have no interest in baking, decorating, matching pyjamas, shopping, table decorating, hosting Good Friday, or planning crafts.

We never opted in actively, we were delegated passively because no one else would do it.

That’s extra pressure to perform and meet expectation.

There’s some toxic social media that helps influencers make money to pedal this image for marketed consumerism.

There is also some memes and gifs that talk about mums creating magic in a romanticised way like “mums create this”. Hmmm.

I personally don’t mind this facet of parenting, it’s one of the fun parts however it’s very easy to get carried away.

It’s easy to overcommit and overspend.

It’s supposed to be fun.

Do it out of love but not duty 🤍

Most of this stuff is optional! Maybe all you want is to sit on the sofa and stuff your face with hot cross buns.

Your kids will be just fine with a present mother who isn’t stressed and so busy

creating the magic that she isn’t experiencing it herself.
