Tonight in D.C., a great gathering of investigative journalists, academics, and citizen activists, among many others, celebrated the publication of the latest book by the legendary John Dinges an award-winning investigative reporter and an emeritus professor of broadcast journalism at Columbia University. The party was hosted by Jean-Marie Simon and Ken Anderson.

John’s courageous new work, “Chile in Their Hearts: The Untold Story of Two Americans Who Went Missing After the Coup,” picks up the tragic true stories of Charles Horman and Frank Teruggi from their portrayals in the 1982 motion picture, “Missing.” To all intents and purposes, John helps to solve their grisly murders once and for all.

The book is set in a place and time when innocent people were picked up off the streets, arrested, and imprisoned without due process. . . . Many of them were tortured and executed, like Horman and Teruggi, simply because of their political beliefs.

BTW: John, who went to high school in Iowa, was an All-State football player. . . . And he is a fearless man.
