In rolling out AI for general use, too many companies overdo it on the guardrails, heavily emphasizing what users cannot do. While intended to mitigate risk, this restrictive signaling can inadvertently constrain productive adoption and growth.
A better approach? Frame and design initial limitations as training wheels. They are there to provide support as both the users and the company become comfortable with the technology.
There is also an expectation that these wheels will be adjusted, if not entirely lifted, as comfort and trust grow.
When it comes to embracing new technology, how you frame the rollout may matter just as much as the tool itself.
Simply put, restrictions can be seen as stifling innovation while enablement drives it.
