Who are your writing supporters?
I was lucky in my early 20s, when I started taking my writing seriously, that I had friends and family who were massively supportive.
It gave me the confidence to keep going and keep honing that raw, young talent.
Some people don’t have the luxury of sharing their writing with family, some people don’t have friends who will “get it” and cheer them on.
But it’s hard to always create alone! It’s hard to always be the one hyping yourself up when you feel lost or discouraged.
Here are some things I have done over the years to connect with other writers and get creative support:
Join a writing group (most of these are free!)
Take a creative writing course and connect with other students.
Use Substack to open up and build relationships with fellow writers.
Work with a writing coach/developmental editor (not free, but valuable if you find the right one!)
It is hard to create all by yourself, find your supporters!
