Happy National Illustration Day (in the UK)! You probably already know but I love drawing food (as well as baking and eating them). The food obsession is definitely rooted in the books I read in my childhood. And the love for food in books continued in my adulthood. I thought I’d share some of my favourites to celebrate the power of illustrations.

  1. Guri and Gura (ぐりとぐら)by Reiko Nakagawa and Yuriko Yamawaki. The most influential book for my love for baking. Look at the golden sponge!

  2. The Giant Jam Sandwich by John Vernon Lord and Janet Burroway. I discovered this book in my 30s (because I didn’t grow up in the UK). This instantly became one of my all-time favourites.

  3. Lunch at 10 Pomegranate Street by Felicita Sala.

And lastly, an image from my Dotty Doughnut 🍩
