I really don’t like the “violence is not the answer” framing, because it takes as a given that the question—“how to get rid of Trump?”—was the same for the shooter and Democrats.

That just has been shown to be true at all. If this was politically motivated, it wasn’t from the left, but it seems to be clearly someone with mental issues who never should have had an AR-15 (much less access to that roof).
