The app for independent voices

I never really like programming that much, even though I did it regularly for 13 years. So the switch to vibecoding has been wonderful for me, I feel like I’m walking on air. I feel bad though for those who fell in love with programming as a craft and staked their careers around being a good programmer. I personally could never understand people who enjoy learning a new programming language for its own sake, but there are many such people out there. Heck, I even met people who were designing their own languages for fun. Of course, anyone can still code manually, learn new programming languages, or create their own language if they want. The big difference is you’re no longer building up economically valuable skills in the process.

Amidst all the AI hype and discourse, I keep feeling sad knowing I’ll never get to be the sort of programmer I hoped to be. My entire career — assuming I even get to have one that lasts beyond the next few years — is going to be defined by AI.
