📍Cary, NC

18-year-old Fernando Vazquez was just trying to work at a construction site in Cary when TWO unmarked SUVs packed with Border Patrol agents rolled up on him. And the very first thing they asked him?

“Where are you from?”

Fernando says he panicked and called his dad, who also works there: “Run and Hide.”

No one should have to make that call at their job.

Agents in masks, gloves, and dark glasses spotted Fernando and cornered him behind an HVAC fence. They even yanked an AirPod out of his ear. When he tried to pick it up, the agent snapped, “Don’t touch me.” Then came the handcuffs.

Even after seeing his North Carolina REAL ID, Border Patrol kept asking him the same question again and again: “Where were you born?”Fernando was born in Raleigh.Born here.A U.S. citizen.

But instead of apologizing or releasing him on the spot, they cuffed him, searched him, and tossed him in the SUV. A coworker sat next to him crying.

And then out of nowhere they pulled into a random parking lot half a mile away, threw his wallet and cards out the window, and dumped him there.

This is exactly why we film.

This is why we hold agencies accountable.

Because if this can happen to an 18 year old U.S. citizen on his job site… what happens when no one’s watching?
