A note: if Guts hadn't heard the speach that Griffith made je would not have embarked in his journey. In a way it's Griffith who made the decision for him by showing Guts where he stands in his worldview. Why did Guts desire to leave? He went to be a hobo. A friend would have stayed to help to make him king (and in this way help him achieve his goal) AND THEN embark on a self searching journey.
