You know what teacher time is, right? The teacher says ‘2 minutes’, or ‘5 minutes’, and you sit in the lesson watching the clock tick past 10 minutes.

This happens because of cognitive load. In a lesson, your mind is ticking over like crazy, and you are making several decisions a minute. No wonder time is elastic.

It is the same with leaders. One of my old heads called it ‘the tyranny of the urgent’. Stuff always keeps coming, whatever your best laid plans. You’re tied up with problems and dislocating your shoulder Houdini style to slip out of the knots.

With a 60 day plan, whatever gets thrown at you doesn’t derail you from the priorities which will make a permanent difference to the students in your school.
