There's way too many at this point to write a whole article but here are some notable municipal pols that are running federally in #CdnElxn2025

  • #Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi is looking to return to Ottawa running in Edmonton Southeast for Libs. He was MP for same area from 2015-2019, serving in Justin Trudeau's cabinet. Sohi lost his seat in 2019 but was elected Mayor in 2021.

  • Former #Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson is also running for Libs in Vancouver Fraserview-South Burnaby. He was a NDP MLA in the 2000s and was mayor from 2008 to 2018.

  • Steve Black, former mayor of #Timmins from 2014-2018, is running for Libs in Kapuskasing—Timmins—Mushkegowuk. Black also ran as an Ontario PC candidate in 2014.

  • Yves Lévesque, mayor of #TroisRivières from 2001 to 2018, is running for the Conservatives on his third attempt to win this riding. Lévesque came within 83 votes of snagging the riding from the BQ in 2021.

  • Current #Whitby Councillor Steve Yamada is running for the Conservatives in the riding consisting of the entire town he represents south of Highway 407. Liberal Ryan Turnbull is looking for a third win.

  • Former Green MP Paul Manly is looking to return to Parliament in Nanaimo Ladysmith, which he represented from May 2019 to September 2021. Manly was elected to #Nanaimo City Council in 2022.
